Getting Adjusted

I think some of the newness has worn off and we are feeling like this is more like home. For the most part, the transition has been easy. This week we have been focusing on getting out and exploring our new surroundings. Earlier in the week, we found an inflatable play center much like the one we used to go to in BA. It had a lot to do and was clean. Morgan played for nearly two hours. We have also become regulars at the neighborhood park. The park is about two blocks from our house. Most mornings I load the kids up in the wagon and we try to spend about thirty minutes to an hour there. Morgan and I have also been sampling all the ice cream and snow cone places : ) So far, Braums is still the best ice cream but we have found a neat little frozen yogurt bar that has a big variety and makes me feel less guilty about indulging my sweet tooth. Yesterday, I picked up our pool key/code. Our neighborhood pool is a couple of blocks away (near the park) and I have a feeling that we will be there a lot. Morgan has now become fast friends with all the kids on the cul-de-sac. They come over daily asking if she can come out and play : ) I'm so glad she has friends close by to play with. David and I have also become friends with several neighbors and we have learned that on our street block parties are held monthly, and every Friday night we rotate houses for dinner/dessert and visiting. On the forth, our neighborhood is having a huge celebration with a parade, live music, swim races, sack races, hula hoop contests, softball games, BBQ, face painting, glow in the dark tattoos for the kids, inflatables, some local firemen are bringing a fire truck for the kids to explore, a fire safety lesson for kids, and a big fireworks display! I even found out that one of our neighbors is a successful local author who will be conducting a book signing on the fourth. Saturday night we will be attending a dear friends memorial celebration. Our friend passed away in a car wreck a couple of weeks ago and we are all coming together to celebrate his life. We have been friends with him and his wife since college. She was even one of my bridesmaids. Please pray for his family, he left behind his wife, two young daughters, and an adopted niece. My heart breaks for them : ( On Tuesday, I am driving back up north for an appointment. Then, I am leaving Morgan behind with Nonnie and Papa for the rest of the week. She is so excited! This two weeks without them have been hard on her and she ask to see them daily. I am hoping she is well enough to go. A couple of days ago she started running a low grade fever and yesterday she started developing a runny nose and cough. I've been trying to wait it out but it looks like we might have to visit the doctor for a quick assessment. Carson has also been a bit under the weather. He is getting two more teeth in (that makes six) and has been a little fussy. He is pretty good throughout the day but at night he has trouble sleeping. Thank goodness for Tylenol and Motrin! Other than the kids being a little sick we are all enjoying our summer. I think we are going to really like living here : )
