Surviving The Heat!

I must say this has been the hottest summer I can remember! I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I have a 4 year old who practically lives outdoors. The heat doesn't seem to bother her at all. Morgan begs to go outside to play from sun up to sun down! We have a routine down, in the mornings I take the kids with me (early) when I run and we always stop by the neighborhood park for about 30 minutes. It not only allows Morgan a chance to play outside but it gives me a chance to catch my breath (this running thing is challenging). We have also tried to spend about 30 minutes in the early afternoon in the backyard but since it has been in the 100's the past several days we have skipped the afternoon outing. Then, most nights when daddy gets home we try to spend an hour at the neighborhood pool. I think I am ready for fall. Carson is not too fond of the heat, although, he doesn't fuss too much he always looks uncomfortable after about 10 minutes. He does enjoy our morning runs and loves being in the pool. As I mentioned earlier, I have taken up running (who would have guessed?). I've always walked pretty regularly but I decided to kick it up a notch and try running. A friend of mine started the couch to 5k program and encouraged me to try it too. Surprisingly, I really enjoy running : ) I am a few weeks into the program and I love that it really pushes my physical endurance. I always feel so accomplished when I'm done. Morgan is my personal trainer, she sits in the stroller (I have a double jogging stroller for the kids) and yells, "mommy faster!". I am also still doing my pilates. I could not live without doing pilates, it is my favorite workout in the world! We are adjusting nicely to our new community : ) I have reconnected with so many old friends and made several new ones. Morgan has also made some great friends. I know she will make even more when she starts preschool next month! I can't believe that my baby is ready for preschool! Time just goes by so fast! I am trying to savor every moment and not take for granted the days that the lord gives me on this earth.
