Carson's Birth Story

So life around the Talley household has been more hectic than usual with the arrival of Carson. I really can't complain too much because he is a very calm baby, especially compared to Morgan. It has just taken some time for us all to get used to the new dynamic. I promised I would post Carson's birth story so here it is... Since I had a lot of complications during the end of my pregnancy with Morgan and ended up being induced early, had to have an emergency c-section after 22 hours of labor and three hours of pushing this time there was no question that I would have a scheduled repeat c-section. Everything was scheduled for 9-9-09 but that changed at my 38 week check-up when I was contracting fairly regularly and already dilating. My doctor did not think we would make it to the 9Th so my c-section was moved up to the 4Th. At that point I did not care, I was just so done with being pregnant. The night before the c-section I did not sleep a wink. I was so nervous about the anesthesia since when I had Morgan my spinal block failed and I had to be put completely under. My c-section was scheduled for 7am and we had to be at the hospital at 5:30am. The actual procedure went great : ) The spinal block worked! It did take a little longer to get the baby out because I had substantial scar tissue. Carson arrived at 7:25am and scored 9 on both apgar tests. After he was born they took him to another room to get cleaned up and David went with him while I got stitched up. Once they left the doctor said to another doctor, "we have a problem" this is not what you want to hear while being operated on ; ) It turns out I had some improper healing from my last c-section that had to be repaired. It felt like forever before I was able to see Carson. Once I got settled into a recovery room I was told that I lost a lot of blood during the surgery and they would be monitoring me to see if I need a transfusion. It turns out that I got to choose if I wanted a transfusion or if I wanted to try to do iron supplements to get my blood levels back up. I chose iron. Three days later Carson and I were released. Carson has been great! He is so calm and rarely cries. I have been doing pretty good too. Morgan loves Carson and wants to hold him constantly! Since Morgan is old enough to help she has been playing little mommy by bringing me diapers, singing to him, putting socks on him, etc... I am so blessed with two healthy kids. Now the Talley family is complete : )
